A notorious kidnap kingpin, Maidawa, and some of his associates have been eliminated following a fierce engagement with security forces in Isanlu-Isin, Kwara State, over the weekend.
According to intelligence intercepted by the State Security Service (SSS), the gang leader was neutralized alongside members of his syndicate during sting operations carried out along the Kwara–Kogi border axis.
The news of Maidawa’s death was first broken to other members of the gang by another wanted kidnapper, Baccujo.
He reportedly informed his associates during a conversation along the Igboro–Idofin road, while communicating with contacts in Marabar Maigora, Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Security forces, acting on renewed calls from the Kwara State Government for urgent intervention, have intensified efforts to dislodge kidnappers notorious for launching attacks on rural communities and abducting residents for ransom.
The ongoing operations are being executed in phases, targeting hotspots across Ekiti, Ifelodun, Isin, Edu, and Patigi Local Government Areas where recent incidents of banditry and kidnappings have been recorded.
