Kwara United Football Club is reportedly considering two high-profile names to fill its vacant Technical Adviser position following the dismissal of Coach Tunde Sanni after the team’s disappointing 1–0 home defeat to Abia Warriors in the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Reliable club sources revealed that veteran tactician Gbenga Ogunbote, fondly known as “The Oracle,” is the leading candidate for the top job. Ogunbote, who boasts a wealth of NPFL experience, has previously managed several top-tier clubs including Enyimba International, Rangers International of Enugu, and most recently Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, which he left before the start of the current campaign.
The 59-year-old coach is widely respected for his tactical discipline and ability to build competitive teams from limited resources, having guided multiple clubs to strong league finishes and continental appearances over the years.
However, reports also suggest that Flying Eagles head coach, Aliyu Zubairu, is being considered as an alternative option. Zubairu, who has previously managed Gombe United, has gained attention for his impressive work with Nigeria’s U-20 national team and is seen as one of the brightest young coaches in Nigerian football.
Club insiders indicate that the management of Kwara United is currently evaluating both candidates to determine who best fits the club’s long-term vision as they aim to turn around their poor start to the season.
Kwara United currently sit in the lower half of the NPFL table after a string of inconsistent performances, and the appointment of a new technical adviser is expected to be finalized before their next league fixture.
